Grundo's Gym Guide The first thing you need to know about Grundo’s Gym is, where the heck is it? Well, it isn’t in any of the Games categories. You have to type the link into your browser, and here it is: http://www.neopets.com/games/grundosgym. The premise of the game is that you are a personal trainer for some pets (a Lupe on a treadmill, a Kacheek lifting weights, a Kacheek running along the bottom of the screen, a Nimmo lifting weights, and an Acara on the stepper). The lower right hand corner is the ‘hidden’ one. You have to make sure they go the right speed (green)—not too fast (red), not too slow (blue). If you make the Neopet go way too fast, they will quit (or the treadmill breaks, they get a cramp etc.) The game has a unique setup, so the second thing you need to know is how it works. There is a button beneath the game that says ‘Don’t have a clue? Click here!’ Basically, you just move your mouse back and forth over the button. You have thirty seconds until the timer runs out. If the button is green at time, you complete the set. If not, even if it was green at the way up to the last second, you have to try again. At level one, you don’t have to go as fast, and the range of acceptable speeds is wider. It gets harder and harder the further up you go, until you get to level five. When you beat level five, you get your official Grundo’s Gym Lifetime Membership! Yay! That means the fun is just getting started... So WHY is this game, which sounds so difficult and confusing, your key to making a whole buncha np? Well, everytime you complete one of the exercises, you have a chance to get a piece of healthy food. You might even get Asparagus, which I think you can only win at this game! You can sell the food for extra np in your store, or feed it to your pet. The best source of np from this game though, is the lifetime memberships. Everytime you complete five levels, you get a lifetime membership, and each lifetime membership means that you get a bonus of 200np per membership everytime you do a level. You can only do one level a day, so at first it may seem like hard work for little profit, but it starts to add up fast! Consider that the first levels, once you get the hang of them, are easy peasy, and that once you get your max of 20 lifetime memberships, you’ll be getting 4000+ np a day. Now you see why I love this game! Now, on to the strategies. The five exercises all use the same strategies. First off, if you listen to music while you’re playing, turn it off. It’s only natural when you’re listening to music to move the mouse in rhythm to the music. If the music’s speed doesn’t agree with the game’s speed, it’s really hard to get the mouse speed right because of the beat, just like when you’re shopping and you start walking in time to the music, even without thinking about it. The game is actually easier if you have a mouse that makes noise when you move it. I used to have an old, ball mouse that made a little ‘click click click’ noise as I moved it back and forth. Now I have an optical mouse, and it’s harder to get into rhythm because I don’t have that little ‘click’ to tell me what speed I’m at. Here are my tips, then. If you have any more, neomail me at dustthouart: Don’t start moving your mouse over the button until the timer reads ’29 seconds left’. For some reason, if you start running your mouse over too early, the game goes berserk and goes to the ultra red, and you’ll have to start over. You have to make your back and forth speed faster in the beginning to get to green initially. When the button turns green, slow down a little. |
